Is it unreasonable that I am almost more terrified of breastfeeding then I am of giving birth? Ever since one of my friends mentioned to me how sore and cracked her nipples were after the first month or so of breastfeeding, a little light inside my head clicked on. Wow, breastfeeding can actually be painful.
Now I know this isn’t always the case, but I can’t claim to have superhero strength nipples either. There is enough pressure around breastfeeding… what if it doesn’t work? Do I starve the baby until the latch on? What will that super activist La Leche League think of me? Am I less of a mother for not enjoying it? What about that ever so important “bonding”?
I was just curious if anyone has used nipple shields before, and found another good way to combat novice breastfeeder pains :(
