It’s no wonder that women start to feel movement in the 18th and 19th week. Look at how long baby’s legs are and how little room he has to move around. And it’s not just the legs that are sprouting. Our baby’s sensory organs are in hyper development, meaning he can see, smell, touch, taste, and HEAR. Singing and talking to your tummy encourage from this moment forward, and we definitely be trying some of that.
It also explains why Baby X might have been especially active during the Depeche Mode show, his first “official” concert (he has been to more, but this was the first one he could listen to). As mommy and daddy danced and sung along, the baby decided that we shouldn’t be the only ones having fun, and gave me a few swift little kicks during “Enjoy the Silence”. Which either means he’s a fan of the retro synth favorite, or he was making a joke… because surely we do need to be enjoying the silence in our household while we still have it.
Other fun developments in the past few weeks… We visited the Dearborn Hospital, which I didn’t end up liking as much as Annapolis Birthing Center. I don’t like the overwhelming feeling of a busy hospital that has 12 births a day, and has a motive to get you in and out as fast as possible. So, because of this, I have decided to switch doctors and stop seeing Dr. Maxwell. Her easy going attitude also meant that she wasn’t really empathetic or great at answering my questions, so it was something I was considering anyway. I will now be seeing Dr. Thompson, who also happens to be PREGNANT right now. Unusual, but I am actually pretty excited to have a pregnant lady be my doctor :) Talk about empathy!!
